BJP releases first list for poll in Kerala

Kochi: The BJP on Monday released the names of 47 candidates contesting the polls for the 140-member Kerala Assembly to be held on April 9.
State party chief and entrepreneur
Rajeev Chandrasekhar will contest from the Nemom Assembly constituency.
Former Union Minister V Muraleedharan will fight
from Kazhakkottam constituency while K Surendran has been from Manjeshwar. Senior BJP leader Shobha Surendran from Palakkad, retired top cop R Sreelekha will contest from Vattiyoorkavu.
Techie Navya Haridas, who unsuccessfully contested the 2024 Lok Sabha election against Priyanka Gandhi Vadra
from Wayanad, will try luck from Kozhikode North.
Late former Chief Minister K Karunakaran’s daughter Padmaja Venugopal, who is sister of Congress leader K Muraleedharan will fight from Thrissur constituency.
Earlier, CPM released a list of 86 candidates including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan out of which 56 are sitting MLAs.
Pinarayi will contest from the Dharmadom in Kannur district. Former Health Minister K K Shailaja has been fielded from the Peravoor in Kannur district.
The Election Commission of India on Sunday announced the schedule for Assembly elections in
Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Assam and West Bengal.
