SC refuse to prevent CJP rally

Kochi: The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain two petitions seeking to defer Cockroach Janata Party‘s (CJP) proposed march on Sep 5. Dismissing the PILs filed by those including a retired police officer expressing fear that the march from the India Gate to the Police Headquarters is intended to create lawlessness ahead of September 12 to 13 BRICS summit in Delhi, Times of India reported.

When the petitioners questioned how such a march from the India Gate to the Police Headquarters can take place without permission, the court said Right now, there is no compelling reason for us (the court) to presume that any wrong will happen, the court observed. “It is for the law enforcing agencies to ensure law and order while acting in accordance with law,” the Chief Justice of India-led bench said.
