HC stays lower Court’s observation

Kochi: The High Court of Kerala on Tuesday ordered the issue of a notice to the Priest (Thantri) Kandaruru Rajeevaru of Sabarimala temple while hearing the plea of prosecution opposing bail granted to him in the temple gold robbery case.
The High Court also stayed the Kollam vigilance Court’s observations giving a clean chit to Thantri’s involvement in the crime.
The High Court issued the order based on the Special Investigation Team (SIT) challenging cancellation of Thantri’s bail.
The Kollam court had on February 18 granted bail to the Tantri, observing that there was not even “an iota of evidence” against him in the cases related to the alleged loss of gold from temple artefacts.
The SIT is probing the gold robbery case in the hill shrine.
Rajeevaru is the 13th and 16th accused in two different cases connected with the robbery.
