Kochi: Nine tourists from Kerala were killed and five critically injured when their vehicle fell into a gorge at Valparai in Tamil Nadu on Friday, media reports said.
The local people, fire brigade and police took part in rescue operations.
The deceased included 7 women and two children. The mishap occurred when the vehicle rammed through the protection wall on the Valparai-Pollachi ghat road.
The van was occupied by 14 people from Malappuram. The seriously injured were taken to a hospital in Pollachi.
