Kochi: Touted as the world’s maiden mobile cabinet, the 36-day Nava Kerala Sadassu of the cash strapped Communist government in Kerala culminated in Thiruvananthapuram amidst clashes, media reports said.
The grand finale saw clashes between the cops and the Opposition political parties with the police booking Congress state chief K Sudhakaran and many others.
Starting its tour from the northern end of Kasargod on November 18 with an agenda to settle the grievances of the public, it encountered protests all across the trip through 140 assembly constituencies mainly from the Congress.
Adding to the woes was the state Governor’s onslaught on the Chief Minister accusing him of organising protests against him by communist students’ outfit SFI. The Governor said that the Law and Order has collapsed and sought imposing a Financial Emergency.
While the Chief Minister blamed the rightist central government for denying the state a whopping Rs 1,07,500 crore, the centre rubbished the allegations claiming that state had defaulted in keeping its accounts updated.
Basking under the glory of winning polls for the second term, Vijayan was targeted by the media and political parties for corruption, extravagance, autocracy, nepotism, political violence among others.
Vijayan justified communist outfits becoming law enforcers by bashing protests while police not acting against them, the reports said
