Pakistan cricket surviving at the mercy of India, says PCB Chief Ramiz Raja

It was the ICC that provided 50 per cent of PCB’s financial requirements, he said. “It is BCCI which provides 90 per cent of funds to ICC,” Ramiz says adding that there are documents to prove it.

Kochi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was surviving at the mercy of India, PCB chief Ramiz Raja has said. The PCB will cease to function if India earnestly desires to bring an end to it, Raja said. Raja claimed that the International Cricket Council (ICC) was mainly dependent on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for getting funds for its operations.

It was the ICC that provided 50 per cent of PCB’s financial requirements, he said. “It is BCCI which provides 90 per cent of funds to ICC,” Ramiz says adding that there are documents to prove it.

It was possible that the PCB might collapse if the Indian Prime Minister wanted to do so, Raja said addressing the Senate Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination. Ramiz is also heard saying in the video saying that PCB’s contribution to ICC is zero as the Pak Board has no role in ICC.

The video of Raja was shared by BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya. Raja also expressed anguish over England cancelling the Pakistan tour. Raja had the other day found himself in an embarrassing situation when he tweeted the wrong news that the England & Wales Cricket Board Chief had resigned from his post. When he realised his folly, he expressed his apologies.

Ramiz Raja had lost his cool and targeted New Zealand when the kiwis cancelled their tour of Pakistan. New Zealand had cancelled its Pakistan tour due to ‘security concerns’. Soon England called off their three-match ODI and five-match T20I series.
