Kochi: Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahiandied in a helicopter crash while returning after after returning from a dam opening ceremony on the Azerbaijan border on Sunday, Iranian media reports said. The mishap occurred due to fog while crossing mountain terrain, the reports said.
The Bell 212 helicopter lost contact approximately 30 minutes into the flight sparking concerns after which a massive search and rescue operation was started.
