Kochi: Gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh has appealed to the Prime Minister to
to initiate a CBI probe into the case in which she has accused the complicity of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his family.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, she said she got involved in the case as per the direction of former principal secretary to Chief Minister Sivasankar who is now leading a peaceful life making her a scapegoat.
Referring to the conspiracy case filed against her, she accused the LDF government is targeting her and her employer HRDS and her lawyer as a retribution to her secret 164 statement before the court against the Chief Minister and his family.
Swapna has also prayed for a meeting with the Prime Minister.
Swapna Suresh was held in connection with gold smuggling in Thiruvananthapuram airport in 2020. Kerala Chief Minister’s then Principal Secretary Sivasankar, was also arrested in the case which is being probed by the Customs, NIA and ED.
The case pertained to the smuggling of 30 kilogram of gold through a diplomatic cargo addressed to the UAE Consulate-General Office in Thiruvananthapuram.
Swapna Suresh, a former executive secretary at the UAE Consulate-General’s office, is a prime suspect for allegedly forging Consulate documents to illicitly enjoy diplomatic immunity for gold smuggled from the Gulf.
