Kochi: Kerala High Court has rejected Kerala government’s plea to stay Kerala Governor’s appointment of Sisa Thomas as Abdul Kalam Technical University acting Vice Chancellor.
The government argued that it was the prerogative of the government to suggest the name of the VC. The court posted the next hearing for Friday. The court has impleaded UGC in the case.
The Supreme Court had quashed the appointment of earlier VC M S Rajashree
after P S Sreejit, former Dean, Cochin University of Science and Technology, challenged her appointment.
Sisa was senior Joint Director of Technical Education Department. The government had recommended the name of another candidate for VC’s post.
Meanwhile, left affiliated students outfit SFI protested against Sisa Thomas in the university following which police intervened and dispersed the protestors.
