Kochi: Actor Dileep and his friend and co accused Sharath appeared in a court and rejected charges made against them, while the prosecution claimed they had evidence to prove the complicity of the accused in the actor abuse case of 2017.
Eighth accused Dileep and 15th accused Sharat heard the charges made against them in the additional charge sheet filed by the Crime Branch in the Principal Sessions Court here, media reports said.
The accused argued that there were no new findings in the further investigations carried out after the revelations made by Director Balachandra Kumar in December, 2021.
The Crime Branch claimed that they had gathered evidence to prove Sharath handing over the incriminating video clips to Dileep and the destruction and masking of evidence.
The court had the other day rejected the plea of the accused seeking to quash the findings of the further investigation. The court had observed that the further investigation proceedings against them would continue.
The survivor, who is a popular South Indian actress, was abducted,abused, videographed inside a car on the night of February 17, 2017, before dropping her near actor Lal’s house.
The perpetrators were arrested and soon Dileep was arrested and sent to jail for 85 days. He secured a conditional bail.
The further investigation into the case began on the basis of the revelations made by Balachandra Kumar claiming that he was a witness to Dileep watching the leaked videos fetched by Sharat. About 20 witnesses have turned hostile in the case.
