Kochi: A father of a seventh standard student was given106 years Rigorous Imprisonment for impregnating his daughter at Neyyattinkara near Thiruvananthapuram.
The Neyyattinkara Special Fast Track Court also imposed a penalty of Rs 17 lakh on him.
The rubber tapping worker was abusing her regularly without the knowledge of his wife until his daughter became pregnant. When all his attempts to cover up the incident failed, he approached a relative to carry out an abortion.
It was she who reported the matter with the police. An investigation conducted by the police found out that the girl’s father was abusing her regularly after threatening her not to tell the matter to anyone.
The girl delivered a baby girl in October, 2017. A DNA test conducted on the baby confirmed that the convict was her child’s biological father.
Twenty witnesses, 30 documents and three pieces of evidence were produced before the court.
Special Prosecutor Ajit Thankayya, Gopika Gopal, appeared for the prosecution.
Kattakada CI R S Anurup, SI D Biju Kumar, submitted the chargesheet.
