Kochi: Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust members Champat Rai and Anil Mishra quit with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s taking strong action in the alleged temple donation misappropriation case. The resignations by Rai and Mishra comes amidst the Special Investigation Team (SIT) unearthing serious lapses in the handling and monitoring of donations offered by devotees at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The complaint was filed by trust member Krishna Mohan following which the police registered first FIR following which police arrested eight accused Avinash Shukla, Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ramashankar Mishra, Subhash Srivastava and Ram Shankar Yadav. The charges include theft, criminal breach of trust, concealment of stolen property, criminal conspiracy and offences committed with common intent under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Corruption Act. The SIT was set up on June 13 in the wake of allegations that donations made by devotees at the Ram Temple were being mishandled.
