Kochi: Three Indian Air Force (IAF) officials were terminated for accidentally firing missiles to Pakistan on March 9, media reports said.
The action was taken on the basis of a high level probe conducted by the IAF into the firing of medium range cruise missile BrahMos to the neighbouring country, the reports said.
The incident took place due to human and technical error during a routine exercise to check system capability
A Court of Enquiry found deviation from the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) led to the inadvertent launch of the missile from the garrison town of Ambala about 200 km from the national capital of New Delhi.
The missile landed in a Mian Channu city in Pakistan’ Punjab province without causing any damage.
The termination orders were served to them by the central government on Tuesday, the reports said.
