Kochi: After remaining in jail for seven months, DMK leader V Senthil Balaj has resigned as a minister without portfolio ahead of his bail application coming before the Madras High Court soon.
The Directorate of Enforcement ((ED) had arrested Balaji in June, 2023, in a money laundering case of 2014 when he was a minister in the AIADMK government.
Chief minister M K Stalin maintained him as a minister even as the Governor tried to sack him from the Cabinet in June after his arrest.
Interestingly, Stalin had himself accused Balaji of corruption when the incarcerated leader was in AIADMK government.
