Qatar set free incarcerated Indians

Kochi: Eight Indian Navy veterans, who were given capital punishment, have been set free by Qatar, media reports quoting the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.
India’s sustained diplomatic efforts with Qatar helped to commute their death term to prolonged prison sentence, the reports.
Eight Indians, working for the Dahra Global company, were accused of spying on a submarine program following which they were held by Qatar since 2022.
A Qatar court had earlier sent them to gallows and later the sentence was commuted to prolonged jail term.
India has conveyed its gratitude to Qatar for the gesture.
