Kochi: After allegations raised against 1,400 Keralites for defrauding a Kuwait bank of Rs 700 crores, an investigation has been launched in Kerala against those involved in the crime, media reports said.
The bank accused the people from Kerala taking loans from Gulf Bank in Kuwait after producing salary certificates.
The matter surfaced after the bank lodged a complaint with the Kerala police against the loanees.
Most of the accused were nurses. Cases were registered at Kalamassery, Puthencruz, Kalady, Kodanad, Muvattupuzha, Oonukal, Varapuzha, Njarackal and Kumarakom.
After returning to Kerala, some accused moved to Europe, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, sources said.
