Kochi: Ladakh activist Sonam Wangchuk was arrested on Friday under the National Security Act (NSA) on charges of inciting a mob, media reports said.
The arrest comes in the wake of violent protests in Ladakh that claimed four lives and injured over 90, CNN-News18 reported.
Wangchuk allegedly said this during his hunger strike for Ladakh’s inclusion in the Sixth schedule and for statehood.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) cancelled the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) licence of Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL) founded by Wangchuk
The Ministry claimed to have detected discrepancies in accounts of the organisation against “national interest”.
Violence broke out in Leh on Wednesday during the statehood movement for Ladakh led by Wangchuk.
The government blamed Wangchuk for provocative speeches.
