Kochi: Chenthamara, 59, was sentenced to death by a Palakkad court in the sensational 2025 Nenmara double murder case killing a mother and son.Delivering the sentence, the Palakkad Additional Sessions Court IV observed that the case fell under the “rarest of the rare” category. The court slapped a fine of Rs 20 lakh to be paid as compensation to the victims’ family, Mathrubhumi reported. The court had earlier convicted Chenthamara for murdering his neighbour Sudhakaran, 56, and his mother Lakshmi, 74, at Pothundi near Nenmara on January 27, 2025.Chenthamara was earlier convicted in 2019 for murdering Sudhakaran’s wifeSajitha. He committed the second double murder while on bail.According to the prosecution, Chenthamara nursing a grudge against Sudhakaran’s family whom he believed was responsible for the breakdown of his own family.
