Congress expels Chenthi Anil

Kochi: Congress leader Chenthi Anil was expelled from the party on Saturday for waylaying Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan on Friday, media reports said.
A member of the District Congress Committee (DCC), Anil was taken into custody for blocking the convoy of the Chief Minister V D Satheesan in the Sreekaryam police station limits in Thiruvananthapuram, the Hindu reported.
Rejecting Anil’s charge that the
Police action was part of the factional feud within the Congress, Thiruvananthapuram DCC president, N Shakthan, dismissed factionalism in the DCC.
Anil led a group of people to allegedly block the Chief Minister’s convoy and allegedly misbehave with him for not attending the Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi celebrations planned at Chenthi.
Satheesan took part in Sree Narayana Gurukulam at Chempazhanthy for the jayanthi celebrations planned there on Friday evening.
Anil and his supporters waved Satheesan to stop at Kazhakuttam and allegedly misbehaved with the Chief Minister when he got down from the car to speak to them.
Congress said Satheesan avoided the Chenthi event based on intelligence inputs a week ago.
The police have charged the Congress leader under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections for wrongful restraint, intimidation and obstructing public servants from performing their duty.
