Kochi: In a blow to Congress-led government, Kerala High Court on Friday directed the DGP to book former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, his daughter Veena T, and her husband, Mohammad Riyas, MLA in bribery CMRL-Exalogic pay-off case among others.
The court order came while hearing a petition filed by activist-lawyer K M Shajahan challenging the state government’s decision to conduct a probe by state police despite the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) conducting a probe and seeking an FIR against in the case.
Instead of acting on the advice of ED, the state government issued an order directing a preliminary police inquiry into the matter.
The state government had argued that an FIR could be registered only after conducting a preliminary inquiry.
