Kochi: In a major relief to the BJP, the Kerala High Court on Tuesday ordered release of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation councillor R Sugathan from detention.
Setting aside the preventive detention of the BJP councillor, the court ordered Sugathan’s release from the Viyyur central jail while hearing a plea moved by his wife.
Sugathan was sent to preventive detention in Viyyur for six months from June 8 after he was accused of involvement in several crimes, the Hindu reported.
The detention order was issued on June 8 by the District Collector of Thiruvananthapuram.
