Yemen to neutralise Houthis

Kochi: Yemen, one of the poorest countries in the world, has announced an all out war to take all its territory held by the Iran-backed terror outfit Houthis since 2014.
Yemeni President Rashad al-Alimi said in a televised address about the government’s decision, BBC reported.
Exchange of strikes between the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition in recent days has led the globally recognised government to act against Houthis.
The Yemeni government’s decision comes amidst Houthis seizing control of the country’s coastline.
Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, has been held by the Houthis for more than a decade.
Saudi Arabia has been under constant attack. The group had launched a ballistic missile and drone attack on Aramco sites in the capital, Riyadh, and the oil-rich Khurais area in the kingdom’s east.
Yemen is one of the poorest countries in the world and remains gripped by a vast humanitarian crisis.
A war erupted in 2014, when the Houthis seized the capital city from the Saudi-backed government.
Last month, Houthis seized the country’s entire Red Sea coast, depriving Saudi Arabia from using it as an alternative oil export route to the Strait of Hormuz benefiting Iran.
