Kochi: US and Russia have reached a deal on
to “immediately release” diesel to the US and globally, BBC quoting President Donald Trump has said.
Trump said the proposed release of hundreds of thousands of tonnes of Russian diesel, in tranches, would reduce diesel prices.
It is understood the US Treasury is suspending sanctions on Russian diesel exports until 7 April 2027 as part of the deal, but other assets like those in American banks are still frozen, BBC said.
Criticising the move, Ukraine’s President said it would prolong the war between Ukraine and Russia.
Putin later said Russia was willing to supply both the US and global markets with oil and petroleum products, the report said.
The US -Iran conflict has sent the cost of petrol and diesel skyrocketing in America in recent months, which has impacted his rating with the public ahead of the mid term polls.
