Kochi: Kerala reported its first Omicron case at Ernakulam, Health Minister Veena George said.
The person, hailing from Ernakulam, came from the UK via Abu Dhabi on December 6, media reports said.
The first test in the airport was negative. The second test showed positive. His wife and mother in law who accompanied him are COVID positive.
His condition is reported to be satisfactory. There is no cause for concern, she said. The contact list of the affected person has been prepared. A total of 149 passengers who traveled in his plane have been alerted.
With this the total number of Omicron cases in the country has gone up to 38.
There are 38,361 active corona cases in the state.
