Kochi: Twenty-one-year-old Harnaaz Sandhu brought home Miss Universe 2021 title after 21 years.
Hailing from Punjab, Harnaaz nudged contestants from Paraguay and South Africa to win the title at Eilat in Israel.
It was in 2000, Lara Dutta last won it for India.
Harnaaz was crowned by Miss Universe 2020 from Mexico in the event live streamed, media reports said.
During questions at three different stages, she came out with impressive answers on the pressure faced by the youth. She said the youth should think they are unique and stop comparing with others.
On climate change she said her heart breaks when she sees the destruction of nature. It is time to take action and talk less. She said our action could save or kill nature.
She was Time Fresh Face 2017. She was Femina Miss India Punjab 2019. She has acted in Punjabi films. She is doing her masters in Public Adminstration.
