Amoebic infection claims one life

Kochi: A 77-year-old housewife from Azhur in Chirayankeezhu in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College died of amoebic meningoencephalitis. media reports said.
She was under treatment for
one month for sodium deficiency.
Ten days back her blood tests showed that was infected with amoebic infection even as the source was not found.
A total of 10 people have died due to the infection in the state this month.
There were a total of 61 confirmed cases in the state. Three cases were reported yesterday.
As of October 2025, the state had reported a total of 104 cases, resulting in 23 deaths, though official figures have varied slightly.
