Arjun Ayanki remanded

Kochi: In a pre-dawn operation, noted criminal Arjun Ayanki was arrested by the police led by a top official in Kannur after a hunt of over two days.
Ayanki allegedly attempted to give a slip to the police, when the cops zeroed in on him in the wee hours.
He was arrested along with another person from an apartment, the Hindu reported.
Arjun Ayanki was produced before the Koothuparamba Magistrate Court which remanded him to Judicial custody. He was subsequently shifted to the special sub-jail in Thalassery
Ayanki had allegedly threatened police officers through social media following his release on bail in connection with his arrest for an alleged unlawful get together near Kothamangalam a few days back.
After securing a bail, Ayanki threatened and abused the Kothamangalam inspector and the Oonnukal Station House Officer through social media platforms.
The Kerala High rejected his anticipatory bail plea in the case.
A native of Kappakkadavu in Azhikode, Ayanki began his political activities as a DYFI unit secretary and later became prominent on social media as a CPI(M) cyber activist.
He is accused of involvement in the Karipur gold smuggling case and snatching robbed smuggled gold while being transported from airports.
He is also a key accused in the Ramnattukara gold smuggling-related incident in which five people were killed.
DYFI had expelled Ayanki from the organisation CPI(M) leadership had also announced disassociation with him.
