Kochi: Popular businessman, Boby Chemmanur, was detained by police based on a case registered against him on a complaint of an actress who accused him of making obscene comments on social media against her.
He was booked under non-bailable charges, including Section 75(4) (making sexually coloured remarks as a form of sexual harassment) under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 67 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the IT Act.
The actor submitted digital evidence against Bobby on Tuesday at Central Police station, Kochi. This is the second case with the first being made on Sunday, when she had lodged complaints against 30 persons for allegedly making sexually loaded comments on her social media posts.
The police arrested one Shaji of Kumbalam in the first case, while the probe is on for the remaining 29 accused, many of whom have deleted not just their allegedly offensive comments but even the social media profiles used to post those comments.
