Kochi: Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of Congress is likely to resign, Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said, media reports said.
The matter was disclosed by Siddaramaiah during his breakfast meeting attended by Gundu Rao at the Chief Minister’s official residence in Bengaluru on May 28.
The Chief Minister informed the Cabinet that he was quitting as he had been asked to do so by the Congress High Command.
Siddaramaiah submitted his resignation to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s special secretary as the governor was out of station on a private visit.
He thanked Sonia Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and party Chief Mallikarjun Kharge.
Addressing mediapersons, he said that his government had delivered on all its promises and guarantees.
