Kochi: Thirtyone Bangladeshi nationals were arrested near Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu for illegally entering and residing in India, media reports said.
Twenty Eight were nabbed from Palladam police station jurisdiction and three from the Veerapandi and Nallur police stations jurisdictions in Tirupur district.
Tamil Nadu Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested them. All of them were working in the garment sector in Tirupur.
The arrests were made when the ATS received a tip-off on Saturday evening.
The ATS team seized valid Bangladeshi identity documents and original Aadhaar cards from them.
The officials said that agents were involved in bringing Bangladeshi nationals to the Tirupur garment sector. The agents were paid by the intruders for helping them cross Indian borders, obtaining Aadhaar cards, and finding jobs in Tirupur.
