Kochi: Actor abused case accused, Dileep, offered prayers at the hill shrine of Sabarimala
on Friday morning. Dileep was accompanied by those including a co accused and businessman Sharat during the visit, media reports said.
The actor and friends reached the temple on Thursday night and camped at Devaswom Guest house. Dileep offered special prayers and made offerings at the temple, the reports said. Dileep had visited the temple last year. Trial in the case restarted in Principal Sessions Court Ernakulam recently after it encountered interruption late last year when a director and Dileep’s friend Balachandra Kumar came out in open claiming that he had strong evidence against the actor. Following this second case was registered against him and another probe ordered.
Dileep and Sharath recently appeared in the court and rejected charges of their complicity in the actor abuse case of 2017 in which a popular actress was abducted, abused and videographed and later dumped in the city on February 17, 2017.
The hearing of the case encountered disruption late last year when Dileep’s friend and Director Balachandra Kumar made startling revelations alleging Dileep’s involvement in the case. Following this fresh cases were filed against Dileep and digital evidence collected.
The Crime Branch claimed that they had gathered evidence to prove Sharath handing over the incriminating video clips to Dileep and the destruction and masking of evidence.
The court had the other day rejected the plea of the accused seeking to quash the findings of the further investigation. The court had observed that the further investigation proceedings against them would continue.
The perpetrators were arrested and soon Dileep was arrested and sent to jail for 85 days. He secured a conditional bail and is engaged in film making.
