Dravid slashes bonus by Rs 2.5 cr

Kochi: Cricket legend and former skipper Rahul Dravid set another landmark example by accepting only Rs 2.5 crore against Rs 5 crore gifted to him as Head Coach by the BCCI after India’s T20 World Cup 2024 win, media reports said.

By doing this Dravid brought his bonus on par with bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, fielding coach T Dilip, and batting coach Vikram Rathore who were given Rs 2.5 crore.

The BCCI had sanctioned Rs 125 crore with each player and some others getting Rs 5 crore.

Dravid did a similar feat after India won the U-19 World Cup in 2018 by declining Rs 50 lakh protesting over his support staff getting only Rs 20 lakh each. Dravid ended his tenure as head coach of India after the win.

Nicknamed as the ‘Wall’ of Indian Cricket, Dravid made tremendous contributions in WT20I breaking over a decade-long drought year. The former skipper has to his credit 24,177 runs in international cricket, the reports said.
