Kochi: Noted artist and space scientist, Soorya Krishnamoorthy, 78, passed away at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.
Former scientist at ISRO, Soorya, also known as Nataraja Krishnamoorthy, was chairman of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy. He was the founder of Soorya Stage and Film Society.
Krishnamoorthy did electrical engineering from TKM College of Engineering, Kollam, in 1972, media reports said.
He founded the Soorya Festival in 1977.
He was Director of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation for three terms and was associated with the National Film Award Committee, the Kerala State Film Award Committee, the NFDC Script Committee, and the committee for selecting Indian Panorama films.
