P C George had once praised Pinarayi

Kochi: Lack of credibility is the main issue haunting former MLA P C George who has never been consistent with his stands in his political journey. Last night George
made serious allegations against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan whom he had described as an honest man in 2017. “Personally I have great affection for Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He is honest and a just administrator. If he gives his word to do something, even if the whole world stands against him, he will stand by his word,” George had said when he was an MLA in 2017.

However, he had flayed the performance of the LDF government in the article published in a business online site on May 25, 2017. Contrary to this, George accused Pinarayi of having unholy association with controversial businessman Faris Abubaker. In 2016, George told a leading Malayalam News Channel that Pinarayi and Faris were against him due to which he was not getting entry into the LDF. All others in the top brass of the party in the state were on good terms with him, George said.

In another article published in a leading Malayalam online site in 2021, George had said that a four member team including Faris was working behind Pinarayi.
It all started in 2006 when rivalry between veteran CPM leader V S Achuthanandan and the then party secretary Pinarayi Vijayan reached the crescendo. George worked on Achuthanandan camp which grew stronger leading to Achuthanandan’s elevation as the Chief Minister in 2006 despite Pinarayi’s attempts to deny him a ticket in the assembly election. George’s open support to Achuthanandan put him in the bad book of Pinarayi.

It was P C George’s lack of credibility, inconsistency and arrogance that shattered his political opportunities. The only time when he got a post was during the UDF rule when he was given the powerless post of Chief Whip.
