Kochi: After keeping the LDF government on tenterhooks on the eve of the budget session, the Kerala Governor finally decided to sign the speech to be read out by him in the assembly tomorrow.
The Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, who remained adamant by not signing the speech, made a u-turn after the government replaced General Administration secretary K R Jyothilal whose remarks on appointing a BJP leader as Governor’s personal staff led to the controversy, media reports said.
Following this the Governor raised objection over government appointing party cadres as personal staff of ministers at regular intervals
causing huge financial liability to the government, the reports said.
Earlier, the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan reached Raj Bhavan to persuade the Governor, but failed.
The Governor has a long-standing spat with the LDF government on different issues including the citizenship Act, University appointments among others.
