Kochi: Malayalam actor and mimicry artist Koottickal Jayachandran was denied anticipatory bail by Kerala High Court in a POCSO case on Tuesday, media reports said.
Jayachandran, accused of
molesting a minor girl under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The case was registered at Kasaba police station in Kozhikode in June 2024 based on a complaint of a woman, accusing him of sexually abusing her four-year-old daughter.
Jayachandran has evaded arrest for over six months even as a Special Investigation Team was set up to trace him.
He had prayed for a bail in the POCSO court in Kozhikkode which was rejected by the court in July 2024.
Later, he pleaded for an anticipatory bail before the Kerala High Court which also rejected his plea.
He has acted in ‘Drishyam’, ‘Chanthupottu’, ‘My Boss’, ‘Memories’, ‘Naradhan’, and ‘Pathonpatham Noottandu’ among others.
