India, Israel PMs greet on New Year

Kochi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended new year greetings to Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu.

Modi discussed ways to strengthen strategic partnership between the two countries. Modi received a call from the Israeli Prime Minister who also shared an update on the Gaza Peace Plan, the Hindu reported.

In a tweet on X, Modi said, “Glad to speak with my friend, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and convey New Year greetings to him and the people of Israel. We discussed ways to further strengthen the India-Israel Strategic Partnership in the year ahead.

Modi and Netanyahu exchanged views on the regional situation and reaffirmed the two leaders’ shared resolve to fight terrorism with greater determination, the post said.
They identified shared priorities to strengthen the India-Israel Strategic Partnership with an emphasis on shared democratic values, mutual trust and a forward-looking vision.
“They reiterated their zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and reaffirmed their commitment to fight this menace,” the statement said.
The last time the two leaders spoke was when the Israel Prime Minister called up Modi on December 10 and briefed him on the West Asia situation.
Mr. Netanyahu had said that the two leaders would be “meeting very soon”.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had met with the Israeli Prime Minister on December 16. The two spoke about enhancing cooperation on technology, economy, connectivity and security, and expressed confidence that the bilateral strategic partnership would “grow from strength to strength”
