Kochi: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, 86, is killed in a US – Israel attack, state media confirmed, BBC reported.
Iranian state media reported on Sunday.
Khamenei’s daughter, grandchild, daughter-in-law and son-in-law were also killed.
Iran will enter 40 days of mourning.
The confirmation comes after US President Donald Trump announced Khamenei death in
US-Israel aggression.
Around 40 Iranian officials were killed in the strikes.
Trump said the attack will continue as “this is the single greatest chance for the Iranian people to take back their country”. Iran launched attacks in US military bases throughout the Middle East in Dubai, Doha, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
Over 200 people were killed across Iran, the Red Crescent said. At least 108 were killed when US and Israeli strikes hit a girls’ school, Iran said.
Khamenei, who was an Iranian cleric and politician, served as the second supreme leader of Iran from 1989.
The United Nations’ nuclear agency IAEA has on two occasions found Iran to be non-compliant with its safeguards obligations. Iran ranks 4th in intangible cultural heritage or human treasures.
Iranian cleric, politician, political theorist and revolutionary Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini founded the Islamic Republic of Iran. Musavi, who served as its first supreme leader from 1979 until his death in 1989, transformed Iran into a theocratic Islamic republic.

Imperial State of Iran until 1979 when he was overthrown by Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini to establish Islamic State bringing an end to the freedom of people including women.
