Director K S Sethumadhavan passes away

Kochi: Noted film director K S Sethumadhavan, 90, who initiated great actors like Mammootty, Kamal Hassan, Suresh Gopi into the world of acting, passed away at Chennai on Friday media reports said.

Born in 1931 at Palakkad, Sethumadhavan took to film after completing his graduation from Victoria College.

He did some outstanding films with actor Sathyan whom he respected a lot for his humility.

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M G Ramachandran and mega star Prem Nazir were also in his list of favorites for their modesty.

He won national and state awards including the K C Daniel award for his contributions to the Malayalam film industry.
He started his career as an assistant director to K Ramanathan and was later associated with L V Prasad, Sunder Rao, A S A Swami and others.

He also did Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi films among others. He introduced Mega star Mammootty into the silver screen through Anubhavangal Paalichagal, Kamal Haasan was first introduced to Malayalam film lovers as a child artist. Kamal Hassan did his first film in the lead role in Kanyakumari.

Suresh Gopi, MP, was introduced as a child artist in Odayil Ninnu. Oppol, Chattakkari, Pani theeratha veedu, Sthanarthi Saramma, Yakshi, Kadalpalam, Achanum Bappayum.
He did over 60 films. He also wrote the screenplay for a few films.
