Kochi: The ISRO launches two satellites from Singapore through its Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) from Sriharikota on Saturday.
The rocket carried TeLEOS-2 as primary satellite and Lumelite-4 as a co-passenger satellite, weighing a total of 757 kg.
It is a dedicated commercial mission through NSIL (NewSpace India Limited), media reports quoting ISRO said.The satellites weigh about 741 kg and 16 kg, respectively.
This is PSLV’s 57th flight and the number of foreign satellites launched through it is 424.
The TeLEOS-2 satellite carries a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) capable of providing 1 m resolution data. It will be used to support the satellite imagery requirements of various agencies in Singapore. It will be able to provide all-weather coverage, and is capable of imaging at 1m full-polarimetric resolution, the reports said.
LUMELITE-4 is for the technological demonstration of the High-Performance Space-borne VHF Data Exchange System (VDES) which aims to “augment Singapore’s e-navigation maritime safety and benefit the global shipping sector”, the reports said.
