Kashmir gets Vande Bharat

Kochi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off two specially designed Vande Bharat trains and world’s tallest railway arch bridge in Jammu and Kashmir today.
The train link connect Srinagar with Katra through Towering 359 metres above the Chenab River in Jammu and Kashmir.
The bridge is taller than the Eiffel Tower and a key segment of the ambitious Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project.
This is Modi’s first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after the deadly April 22 Pahalgam terror attack which killed 26 civilians.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw called the railway link to Kashmir “another gem that has been added to Jammu and Kashmir”.
“The country had cherished the dream of this railway line for decades. There were great challenges in its construction… Instead of trying to conquer nature, working in harmony with nature, this railway line has become a reality today through this network of bridges and tunnels. This was made possible due to the steely determination, hard work and laser-sharp focus of our Prime Minister,” he said
Before flagging off Vande Bharat Express, Modi interacted with school children onboard. He also interacted with members of the Railway staff who were on the train.
