Kochi: Kerala government has been directed by the National Green Tribunal to reimburse expenses incurred by Tamil Nadu in clearing biomedical waste dumped by Kerala in Tamil Nadu, media reports said.
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) Southern Zone in Chennai held Kerala’s local self-governance department accountable.
Tamil Nadu had moved the tribunal with a prayer seeking direction to Kerala to reimburse cleanup costs during Wednesday’s hearing.
The NGT questioned Kerala giving permission for new hospitals which do not have adequate waste treatment facilities, the reports said.
