Mangaluru area merger final: Ashwini

Kochi: The Centre is firm with its decision to take Mangaluru from the control of Palakkad division.
This was stated by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav during his interaction with Opposition MPs from Keralam in New Delhi.
The minister said he discussed the operational issues in Mangaluru which will be solved by the new decision. The decision to keep Mangaluru under South Western Railway will solve the operational problems, he said.
“Mangaluru railway area was divided into three different zones, which was creating serious operational problems,” he said on the X.
The decision to keep Mangaluru in SWR will solve the operational problems.
The Minister said he discussed the development of the railway network in Keralam with the MPs.
He said the Prime Minister had increased the allocation for Keralam 10 times from ₹372 crores in 2014to ₹3,795 crores in 26-27.
Keralam has seen 100% electrification of its railway network, completion of doubling gauge conversion projects, 131 flyovers and underpasses, and redevelopment of 16 stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme over the last 12 years.
