Kochi: In a veiled attack on the BCCI, India Test captain Virat Kohli has said that he was not part of the meeting held to select Rohit Sharma as one day captain.
The chief selector had called him to inform him that Rohit was the consensus candidate of the selectors for the one day team captaincy, Kohli told a press conference.
He said he will play in the one day match in South Africa even as there was a misinformation campaign going against him that he would not play the one day.
The test captain said he had no idea who was behind spreading the mischief.
There was no problem between him and Rohit, Kohli said, adding that he had been saying this for the last two years.
He said Rohit was highly experienced and a competent player to lead the team. He and coach Rahul Dravid would lead the team to top position.
He said he would not do anything that would harm the team.
Rohit’s absence in the test matches in South Africa would be a big loss. But it would help up and coming players to show their talent, he said.
