Kochi: Junior Indian cricketers avoided shaking hands with arch rival Pakistan in the U19 Asia Cup event at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai on Sunday, Times of India reported.
India captain Ayush Mhatre maintained the team’s ‘no handshake’ policy during the group-stage fixture.
Mhatre and Pakistan skipper Farhan Yousaf did not initiate the customary exchange of pleasantries at Toss.
After Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl, proceeded to their dressing rooms.
Indian senior men’s team during the recently concluded Asia Cup 2025, did not shake hands with Pakistan in all three matches and declined to receive the trophy from Asian Cricket Council President Mohsin Naqvi.
India did the same during the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup.
