Post poll outcome tough for Congress

Kochi: Even as Exit Polls have come out with diverse opinions about Assembly Election 2026 results, non BJP parties are worried about post Election outcome, political observers said.
For the Congress poll results of Assam, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry might not be a major worry, but it is really concerned about Kerala where the party and its allies have been starved of power for the last one decade, they said.
A state where it used to be back in power after every five years of Left Front’s rule has seen a sea change in the political scenario where popular leaders have migrated to BJP without any inhibitions.
Migration of many popular leaders from Congress to the BJP exposes the lack of affinity some members of the grand old party have towards it.
The biggest concern for the Congress top brass is the irreparable damage caused to the party’s unity due to the open war between the factions to lead the government if the Congress-led UDF emerges victorious.
The mass migration of Congress leaders to help the BJP to form a government a few years in Goa is fresh in the minds of the party leadership.
Most of the exit polls have predicted a slender margin between Left Front and the Congress-led UDF making it vulnerable for defection or split of Front like it happened with Aam Aadmi Party in New Delhi engineered by Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha.
The situation has given sleepless nights to the Congress strategists who are working hard to bring consensus among top leaders V D Satheesan, Ramesh Chennithala and the most powerful K C Venugopal who will get top priority for his proximity with Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
On the other hand the BJP seems to be not worried about the situation in Assam,
West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry compared to Kerala where the saffron party has tried all its resources in the polls.
