Kochi: One of the masterminds of the 2019 Pulwama attack was killed by unknown gunmen in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK), media reports said.
Hamza Burhan, known as ‘Doctor’, was designated as a terrorist by the Union Home Ministry in 2022.
Burhan, 23, sustained multiple bullet injuries after he was attacked in Muzaffarabad by unidentified assailants.
Burhan went to Pakistan in 2017 and joined the banned terror outfit Al-Badr.
After returning to Kashmir he started radicalizing youth. In South Kashmir, Burhan expanded his network from Pulwama to Shopian.
Burhan has been linked to several terror-related activities in Jammu and Kashmir, including the February 14, 2019, Pulwama attack.
The Pulwama incident was carried out by the Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) killing 40 personnel.
