US to address India’s Energy problems: Rubio

Kochi: Expansion of energy cooperation will get priority during the forthcoming US-India talks, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said.
The US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said the US wanted to sell energy wasted by India, he told reporters in Miami before departing for a tour of Sweden and India, media reports said.
He expressed the hope that the US is at historic levels of production and export.
”…We want them to be a bigger part of their portfolio. We also think there are opportunities with Venezuelan oil,” Rubio said responding to a question about India hit by high energy prices due to Iran war.
He said India is a “great ally, a great partner. We do a lot of good work with them.”
The Quad meeting is planned for May 26, and it is scheduled to be attended by Rubio, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu, with Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar presiding over it.
Rubio also said that acting Venezuelan President Delcy RodrĂ­guez is expected to visit India next week.
Rubio will visit India from May 23 to 26 and is scheduled to travel to Kolkata, Agra, Jaipur and New Delhi.
India is hosting a crucial meeting of the Quad Foreign Ministers on May 26, 2026, in New Delhi. The US Secretary of State and the Foreign Ministers of Australia, Japan, and India will discuss regional maritime security, the Indo-Pacific, and energy coordination.
