Kochi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi offered tributes to his father and late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at Sriperumbudur near Chennai before flagging off the Bharat Jodo Yatra at Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu today.
Rahul, who was the president of the party, will lead the 3,570 kms to Kashmir with the message to strengthen the country’s secularism and democracy.
The rally will cover 25 kms each day and is expected to end in 150 days and is seen as a move to prepare itself for the 2024 general election.
It rally will pass through Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Nilambur, Mysuru, Bellary Raichur, Nanded, Jalgaon, Indore, Kota, Dausa, Alwar, Bulandshahr, Delhi, Ambala, Pathankot and Kashmir passing through 12 states and two union territories.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Chattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Bhagel will attend the function at Kanyakumari.
