Kochi: The US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday described Iran as the top sponsor of “terrorism” across the world.
“No nation on Earth sponsors more terrorism than Iran”, Rubio said at a press conference in New Delhi.
Iran invested in sponsoring terror groups and not on spending on infrastructure, media reports said.
“The world’s leading sponsor of terrorism is Iran. Look at what they are doing now,” said Rubio.
“They are holding hostage civilian vessels… they’ve laid mines in an international waterway.”
Rubio assured that Iran would not have a nuclear weapon as negotiations between the two nations remain ongoing.
